Overview
Pirita is Tallinn's most prestigious and naturally beautiful residential district. The seaside location, long sandy beach, Pirita River valley, and abundant pine forests create a luxurious living environment. The area is known as the venue of the 1980 Olympic sailing regatta.
History & Character
Pirita's history dates back to the Middle Ages when the Bridgettine Convent was established here (1407). The area developed from a summer resort to an elite residential district in the 20th century. The sailing regatta of the 1980 Moscow Olympics was held in Pirita, for which the Olympic village and sailing center were built.
