Overview
Lasnamäe is the largest residential district in Tallinn and the entire Baltics, with over 100,000 residents. Located on a limestone cliff, the district offers excellent views of the city and sea. The area is known for its multiculturalism, affordable prices, and good infrastructure.
History & Character
Lasnamäe was built mainly in the 1970s-1980s to solve Tallinn's housing problem. Before mass construction, the area was sparsely populated agricultural land. The name 'Lasnamäe' refers to a historical place meaning 'wide hill'. The district was designed as a self-sufficient satellite city.
