Rapla County is located southwest of Tallinn and is a peaceful agricultural region amid beautiful manors and forests. The county seat Rapla is a growing town attracting more residents due to its proximity to Tallinn. Raplamaa is known for its limestone-based landscape and manor culture.
History & Character
The Rapla area has been inhabited for thousands of years. In the Middle Ages, the territory belonged to the Saare-Lääne Bishopric and the Livonian Order. Rapla Church is one of the oldest and largest village churches in Estonia, dating from the 13th century. Manor culture has left numerous well-preserved estate ensembles in the region.
